Liverpool Set for Crunch Talks Over Summer Move to Sign Real Madrid Star
Liverpool are already ramping up plans to bolster their squad in a bid to win a record-breaking 21st league title under Arne Slot last season. Those plans could be set to take a huge leap over the next few days with the Reds set to hold talks over a major summer deal to sign Real Madrid forward Rodrygo.
The forward has been on Liverpool’s radar for some time and former head coach Jurgen Klopp was a huge admirer of the Brazilian.
Now, Anfield Index sources have informed us that the player’s agent and family are expected in Liverpool for talks imminently.
The 24-year-old forward has been heavily linked with a move away from the Spanish giants after a frustrating 2024/25 campaign. Despite making 30 appearances in La Liga so far this season, Rodrygo has played just 63% of the possible minutes available to him.

He has still managed to showcase his quality regardless, managing to notch 13 goals and 10 assists across all competitions so far this season.
His frustration has likely peaked, with Rodrygo being an un-used substitute in Real Madrid’s 4-3 defeat to Barcelona in today’s El Classico. The defeat means that Hansi Flick’s side have one hand on the La Liga title, whilst pressure continues to rise on Carlo Ancelotti.
Liverpool’s Transfer Plans
It’s clear to see why Liverpool have an interest in the Brazilian forward, with his versatility being just as attractive as his natural talent.
Capable of playing off either wing and also as a central forward on occasion, it’s a trait that every top European side values highly. The days of out-and-out strikers are dying out and the need for fluid and flexible front-lines are only growing more since the days of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.
With the long-term futures of Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, Federico Chiesa and even Luis Diaz all remaining uncertain, Liverpool will definitely look to strengthen their front-line this summer and potentially with more than one signing.

The likes of Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike have been heavily linked with a move to Anfield and these talks with Rodrygo’s representatives could be a hint at Liverpool’s further plans for the front-line this summer.
There’s a long way to go past the stages of preliminary talks but Liverpool’s interest in the forward is definitely genuine and it’ll be interesting to see if that interest advances further.
