If things go right, the earliest the team could seal the deal as the Premier League champions is by Sunday, 27 April 2025. But if things go better than right, the team could secure the title as early as Wednesday, April 23.
For that to happen, the results of the match between Crystal Palace and Arsenal are of paramount importance. In the upcoming sections, I’ll explore what each of the various possible outcomes of this match can mean for Liverpool.
Result 1: Crystal Palace beats Arsenal
Crystal Palace and Arsenal are all set to face off this Wednesday. This match could mean the end of it all for Arsenal fans and the moment of triumph for Liverpool fans, provided Arsenal loses. Currently, Arsenal is standing at 66 points. If they lose this match and win the other four, they’re still at 78 points, which would still be one point less than Liverpool.
Even if we assume Liverpool loses all their remaining matches, which, considering their overall performance, would be a stretch, they would still win the championship. Technically, they wouldn’t even have to kick the ball anymore if Arsenal loses. Crystal Palace may surprise us, however, considering their record, it is a tough bet.
Result 2: Arsenal Draws the Match
Even if this turns out as the result, things are still rather easy for Liverpool. If Arsenal successfully draws the match with Crystal Palace, then it gets awarded one point, bringing the gap with Liverpool to 12 points. Arsenal must then win all their other 4 remaining matches, one being against Liverpool, to cover that gap and make it tougher for Liverpool to be crowned the champion
If Arsenal draws the match, then Liverpool has to make sure to at least draw their match with Tottenham on Sunday. It is highly unlikely that Liverpool will have any difficulty doing so since Tottenham does not have a very strong standing in this premier league season, currently standing at a mere 37 points. But then again, you never know, they may just surprise us with a comeback.
Result 3: Arsenal Wins the Match
Things could get a little tricky for Liverpool if Arsenal wins the match against Crystal Palace, and considering the records of both teams, this is the most likely outcome. If this turns out to be the result, Liverpool will need to display the same level of skills they have displayed so far yet again and defeat Tottenham when they face off. This will help maintain the 13-point advantage they have over Arsenal.
If Liverpool somehow loses both of the next 2 matches they’re scheduled to play, and Arsenal ends up winning the matches in their schedule, the teams will stand at 79 and 72 respectively. In that case, the match between Arsenal and Liverpool could be one of the most thrilling feats in the entire tournament. If Liverpool wins, it’s done and dusted, however, if they lose against Arsenal, they can still secure the title with a victory in either of the two matches after that.
