Liverpool 3-1 Crystal Palace: Reds Secure Massive Premier League Win
Goals from Alexander Isak, Andrew Robertson and Florian Wirtz were enough as Liverpool beat Crystal Palace 3-1 at Anfield.
The win sees Arne Slot’s side move above Aston Villa into fourth place, after their defeat to Fulham earlier today.
After a slow start,
Liverpool were awarded a penalty halfway through the first half after Mohamed Salah was brought down in the box. However, VAR had other ideas and overruled the decision.
A brief spell of pressure saw the ball to fall to Alexis Mac Allister on the edge of the box, who smacked the ball goalwards.
Up steps Alexander Isak, with brilliant control before bouncing the ball over Dean Henderson. That’s the Swedish forward’s first Premier League goal at Anfield.
Minutes later, the visitors almost equalised. Freddie Woodman produced a fantastic save to deny Jean-Philippe Mateta.
Liverpool turned defence into attack and Curtis Jones played a perfect through ball to Andy Robertson, who slotted the ball home.
Anfield embraced one it’s iconic players, in what could even be his last goal for the club before he leaves this summer.
Liverpool continued to create chances after the break, but Palace scored a controversial goal as Daniel Munoz chipped the ball over an injured Freddie Woodman.
But that still couldn’t change the momentum, with Florian Wirtz scoring a stoppage time goal to secure all three points.
