Former Man United Star Takes Aim at Arne Slot

The biggest game in English football returns on Sunday, as Liverpool take on Manchester United at Old Trafford.

In the past decade, Liverpool have dominated this clash and have been favourites more often than not, however this time feels slightly different.

Arne Slot’s side currently sit 4th in the table and have been way below their usual standards this season. One slight positive is that Liverpool come into this one off the back of three straight wins against Fulham, Everton and Crystal Palace.

However, Man United have lost just two of their last 12 games and have secured wins against both Arsenal and Manchester City in that time. Interim manager Michael Carrick has impressed since his arrival in January, and Champions League football looks guaranteed for his side.

Former Man United defender Paul Parker shared his thoughts on tomorrow’s game, courtesy of  Spreadex Sports, and couldn’t help but poke fun at Liverpool boss Arne Slot…

“Thankyou Mr. Slot!”

Liverpool boss Arne Slot has been under immense pressure this season after a disastrous title defence, and Parker took this opportunity to give a slight reminder.

“The gep between the two clubs has certainly got closer, so thankyou Mr. Slot!”, began Parker, “But even still, Liverpool haven’t dropped anywhere near as far as what Man United did.”

“If they [Liverpool] keep going like this, then who knows? But this summer is huge for them, because they need to sell more players again,” said Parker.

“Like at Man United, you need a certain type of player to play for a club like Liverpool, because of the history and what it means,” Parker continued.

Last summer saw Liverpool spend a record-breaking amount on new signings (approximately £400m) and most haven’t quite lived up to expectations just yet.

“At the moment, Man United fans haven’t spoke too much about the game, which is strange because they’re usually worried about being smashed!” said Parker.

“Usually Man United freshen themselves up for big games, like we saw against Man City and Arsenal,” continued Parker.

“I have to back Man United, which I haven’t done for years. It has been so long since Man United have managed to do the double over Liverpool, it would be huge!” said Parker.

Arne Slot has his own battles to fight for. The Dutchman could become the first Liverpool manager to win their first two Premier League games at Old Trafford.

The last meeting between the two clubs at Old Trafford was a 3-0 win for Liverpool, one month into Slot’s reign at the club. He will no doubt be hoping for a similar result and performance this weekend.
