Bradley Barcola to Liverpool: PSG Talks Advance as Record Deal Edges Closer

Liverpool’s pursuit of Bradley Barcola is gathering serious momentum, with confidence growing around the prospect of an agreement being reached with Paris Saint-Germain. According to L’Equipe, negotiations are moving forward even if the process may still take time.

From Liverpool’s side, the need is clear. With Mohamed Salah having left this summer, Andoni Iraola is working with a forward line that still carries quality but lacks the proven wide output Salah delivered over so many seasons. Finding a direct replacement in this market was always going to be difficult, so attention has turned towards a different profile, one capable of adding pace, unpredictability and long-term value.

Barcola fits that thinking. The 23-year-old has been admired for some time and Liverpool appear ready to stretch financially for a player they view as one of Europe’s most exciting wide attackers. The key issue has been price. PSG’s valuation has been extremely high, with figures around €180m previously mentioned, a level that would place the move among the biggest in football history.

PSG stance shapes Bradley Barcola talks

There is, however, a growing belief that any final package may settle lower than that. Liverpool are thought to be targeting a fee nearer €120m, while PSG have held firm at the top end of the scale. The eventual compromise may land somewhere in between, which is often the reality in elite transfer negotiations of this nature.

PSG’s wider activity in the market could prove relevant. Their interest in adding another winger, including progress on Maghnes Akliouche, points to planning that may help unlock Barcola’s departure while allowing the French champions to maintain a strong position publicly and financially.

Liverpool transfer latest suggests patience required

For now, the expectation is that discussions will continue rather than conclude immediately. Yet the mood around the deal appears increasingly positive. If that remains the case, Liverpool may be edging towards a club-record investment in a player they believe can define the next phase of their attack.

Our View

As Liverpool fans, it is hard not to get excited by this one. Barcola looks like the sort of signing that can light up Anfield. He is quick, brave in one-on-one situations and carries the ball in a way that instantly changes the tempo of an attack. After losing Salah, there has been a real sense that Liverpool needed something fresh out wide, someone who can energise the team and give supporters that feeling that anything can happen when he gets the ball.

The price is obviously enormous, and that will make plenty of people nervous. Spending somewhere between €120m and €150m on any player brings pressure. But elite talent costs elite money, especially when the selling club holds all the leverage. If Liverpool genuinely believe Barcola can become one of the best attackers in Europe, this is the level of deal they have to be prepared to make.

There is also something encouraging in the fact that Liverpool seem prepared to act decisively. Supporters wanted ambition after a difficult 2025/26 campaign, and this would send exactly that message. If Iraola is being backed to reshape the frontline with a player of this calibre, it says the club are serious about returning to the very top straight away. From a fan perspective, that is exactly what you want to hear.
