Yan Diomande transfer latest as Liverpool stay in the race amid PSG pressure
Liverpool remain active in the market for Yan Diomande, according to BILD, but the picture around the RB Leipzig winger is becoming increasingly competitive and complex.
The 19-year-old has been on Liverpool’s radar for much of the summer, with the Premier League champions assessing him as one of the standout young options to strengthen the attack. Their interest is long-standing and substantive, yet the current indication is that the player would favour a move to Paris Saint-Germain if all elements align.
That has placed Liverpool in a difficult position. Earlier reports suggested a package worth around €100 million, including add-ons, had been put to RB Leipzig. It was turned away, with the Bundesliga club holding firm on valuation and showing little appetite to compromise over one of their premier young assets.
What keeps this live is that no final agreement has yet been struck. PSG are understood to have made progress on personal terms over a five-year contract, but the club-to-club discussions with Leipzig remain unresolved. That matters, because as things stand the door has not closed.
BILD’s latest line is that Liverpool are among five major clubs, along with Arsenal, Real Madrid, Manchester City and PSG, who would be willing to meet Leipzig’s €100 million demand. If accurate, it underlines both the scale of Diomande’s reputation and the challenge facing any side hoping to secure a clear run at the deal.
From Liverpool’s perspective, patience may be the key theme. There is interest, there is background work, and there is awareness that the player’s preference currently points elsewhere. At the same time, there appears to be no immediate breakthrough between PSG and Leipzig, which preserves at least some hope for rival suitors.
Diomande is not the only name under consideration either, with Bradley Barcola also featuring prominently in discussions over Liverpool’s winger shortlist this summer.

From a Liverpool supporter’s standpoint, this feels like one to watch rather than one to get carried away with. Diomande is clearly a major talent, and if several elite clubs are genuinely ready to pay €100 million, then his ceiling must be very high. Still, whenever a player is believed to prefer another destination, there is always a question over how far Liverpool should push.
There is no issue with the club doing the groundwork and staying informed, because top-level recruitment often requires patience and flexibility. What would concern some fans is overcommitting time and energy to a situation that may already be leaning towards PSG.
That said, unresolved talks between PSG and RB Leipzig do leave an opening. Liverpool have often done their best business by staying calm while others rush. If the landscape changes, they need to be in position to move quickly.
Barcola being mentioned as another option also makes this easier to understand. It suggests Liverpool are not locked into one route, which is encouraging. For supporters who are unsure, that is probably the sensible place to land. Diomande looks exciting, but this currently reads more like a developing market situation than a deal nearing completion for Anfield.
