Jurgen Klopp gave Liverpool fans an injury update today ahead of Burnley’s visit to Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday.

As expected, judging from Klopp’s quotes, Dejan Lovren can only hope for a place on the bench, at most, while the aim with Joe Gomez seems to be a return after the international break, maybe for the matchday squad against Spurs.

When asked for a general update regarding first-team squad members, Klopp disclosed:

“Dejan [Lovren] trained yesterday completely normally for the first time.

“Joe [Gomez] is now running with 100% of his weight and that looks good.

“Most of the problems will be sorted probably after the international break but Dejan we have to see because he’s been out for a while. He is not injured anymore but how fit he is we need to say.

“Rhian [Brewster] is in a really good way and a place where Ox was three weeks ago probably.

“Milly [James Milner] everything heals quicker but still three days to go, he trained yesterday with the rehab coach and if you asked him he will say he is ready.

“Jordan [Henderson] is fine.”

It will be the midfield again that Klopp has some decisions to make.

I made a midweek prediction for the starting lineup against Burnley which you can view here. However, after further thought on the matter, I can confirm I no longer think that will be the eleven Klopp goes with.

The only change is that I don’t think the Liverpool boss will give Xherdan Shaqiri a start on Sunday. Now, I think Naby Keita will take to the pitch in place of Shaqiri, as mentioned in our match preview.

Along with Shaqiri, I believe Jordan Henderson and James Milner will have to make do with their places on the bench.

This will mean more of an orthodox 4-3-3 shape for the team with Firmino pushed further forward in attack with Sadio Mané and Mohamed Salah.

Predicted Liverpool lineup v Burnley (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk(c), Robertson; Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Keita; Salah, Firmino, Mané
