Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson is adamant the squad must be at its best to complete the task of securing the club’s 19th league title over the next two months.

The Reds return to action on Sunday night in the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park. The game, like all remaining Premier League games this season, will be played behind closed doors.

Speaking in an interview with the official LFC Magazine, Henderson spoke about his hopes for the remainder of the 2019/20 campaign.

“We are still very focused and very determined.

“Although we’re in a very good position, I still feel that we have got to perform at a high level and finish the season off well.

“We need to be prepared. We need to be raring to go and not get caught cold coming out of the blocks.

“If we do manage to do our job properly and we do manage to get over the line and win the league then that would be amazing.

“I’m sure Liverpool fans are desperate for us to get back playing and we as players can’t wait to get back playing and finish the job off as best as we can.

“Although it will be strange to have no fans, winning the Premier League would still be something that we’ve all dreamed of and something that we all want really badly. It won’t take anything away from that.”

Jürgen Klopp’s men need six more points to win the league title. Their first three games upon return are the aforementioned derby with Everton, followed then by Crystal Palace at Anfield and then a trip to face second-placed Manchester City.
