Liverpool play their last league game of the season on Sunday at Newcastle United. Let’s have a look at what the likely starting lineup could be.
The Reds lifted the Premier League trophy on Wednesday night after a thrilling 5-3 win over Frank Lampard’s resurgent Chelsea side. Naby Keïta, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Gini Wijnaldum, Roberto Firmino and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain were the scorers for Jürgen Klopp’s side on a night of celebration at Anfield.
On Sunday, Liverpool travel to play Steve Bruce’s Newcastle United as the curtain falls on the 2019/20 league campaign. Klopp is likely to give some game-time to some players such as Adam Lallana and, maybe, Dejan Lovren, as both players bid farewell to the club.
Alisson should start in goal for Liverpool. Lovren could start at centre-half alongside Virgil van Dijk if Klopp is in a sentimental mood.
In midfield, I think it will be Fabinho, Gini Wijnaldum and Adam Lallana to start. James Milner, Naby Keïta and Curtis Jones will probably feature from the bench in the second half.
In the frontline, Takumi Minamino may well get the nod in place of Firmino while Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané should start on either flank.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain may also get some game-time after his goalscoring cameo against Chelsea, either as an attacking midfielder or a replacement for either Salah or Mané
Predicted Liverpool lineup (4-3-3) vs Newcastle United: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Lovren, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Lallana; Salah, Minamino, Mané
