Bayern Munich and Barcelona intensify interest amid Liverpool’s stance
Discussions surrounding the future of one of Liverpool’s attacking options have intensified in recent weeks, with both Barcelona and Bayern Munich maintaining a strong interest in securing a transfer this summer. Despite the player being under contract until 2027, uncertainty has grown due to slow progress on a potential contract extension.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, the German and Spanish clubs are both actively in talks with the player’s representatives, while Liverpool remain firm in their position – rejecting multiple offers already.
Liverpool firm on valuation as talks continue
The Premier League side have so far declined to name a fixed asking price for the player, instead rebuffing every approach that has come their way. According to Romano, Bayern Munich have already had two offers rejected and are now preparing a third bid.
The Bundesliga champions have been in direct contact with the player’s agents and are expected to continue pushing for a deal. Barcelona, meanwhile, have also maintained regular dialogue with his representatives and intend to hold further talks in the coming days.
The situation remains fluid, but the Spanish club are particularly keen. Financial constraints could, however, prove to be a stumbling block.
Player’s ambition could force movement
While Liverpool are reluctant to part ways, the player’s desire to explore a new chapter may influence developments in the coming weeks. Romano notes that the player is open to the idea of a move, and both Bayern and Barcelona are aware of his position.
“Barcelona remain in conversation because he is a player the club loves,” said Romano. “But financially, they must first assess what is possible as Liverpool keep closing doors.”
The current impasse appears to be more about value than willingness to negotiate. Liverpool have yet to signal any willingness to compromise, which could complicate efforts to resolve the matter quickly.
No formal asking price yet from Liverpool
Romano also highlighted that while interest is high, the absence of a public valuation from Liverpool continues to delay progress. “At the moment, they keep rejecting proposals,” he added. “They are not indicating a specific price.”
This leaves Bayern and Barcelona operating in uncertain territory, weighing their next steps with caution. Liverpool’s financial expectations remain unclear, and until a number is made known, both clubs will have to tread carefully in negotiations.
It’s understood that the Premier League club still view the winger as part of their immediate plans, but the matter is far from settled. As it stands, all parties are keeping their options open while key conversations continue behind the scenes.
