Slot Offers Blunt Verdict

Arne Slot chose one word to describe Liverpool’s difficult campaign, “injury”.

“If you asked me one word to describe this season, I would describe that with the word ‘injury‘.”

Liverpool finished with their lowest Premier League points tally since 2011/12, while also conceding their most goals in a 38 game league season since 1914/15.

Champions League qualification brings relief, but Slot knows standards slipped.

Slot Accepts Responsibility

“Oh yeah, many things. We, I, haven’t been perfect, but I would have answered this question exactly the same in the year we won the league because as a manager you can never be perfect [and] a player can never be perfect.

“But all the decisions I’ve made throughout the whole season has been only with one idea, and that’s being very well prepared.

“So, all the decisions I made were never made from, ‘Oh, I haven’t had time, let’s make a decision like this’.

“No, I thought about it really well and as you know, not every decision can be the right one, so it would be stupid for me to sit here and say all the decisions I’ve made were the right ones.

“But before I made them, it every time felt they were the right ones to make.

“But a lot of times I didn’t even have to make decisions or choices because this [match] was maybe the first time this season that there were no academy players on our bench – and that has been an exception.”

Anfield Demands Clear Response

Arne Slot is expected to stay, with Liverpool ready to strengthen the squad and coaching staff. Injuries hurt them, certainly, but next season must bring sharper structure, stronger resilience and a clearer identity.
