Former Liverpool midfielder Emre Can claims his Borussia Dortmund teammate Jadon Sancho is a “world-class” footballer.
Sancho has attracted huge attention from the Premier League with Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool all reported to be interested in garnering the youngster’s signature.
Having only turned 20 last month, Sancho’s star has risen at a phenomenal rate since his move to the Bundesliga in 2017.
The former Manchester City youth player can play wide on either side of the midfield or attack. This season alone, Sancho has scored 14 goals and provided 15 assists in 23 league appearances for Dortmund. The young wing wizard delivered similar figures for Dortmund in 2018/19 (12 goals, 14 assists).
Sancho is also now a full England international, making four starts in the qualification campaign for the UEFA European Championship (now postponed until summer 2021). Sancho scored two and created two as England comfortably finished first in Group A.
Emre Can is only recently acquainted with Sancho having joined Borussia Dortmund in January after a disappointing 18 months with Serie A giants Juventus.
As reported in German publication Bild, when asked about playing with Jadon Sancho, Can said:
“I knew he was a very good player even before I joined Dortmund.
“But since I’ve arrived, I’ve found out that he’s world-class and maybe the best player of his age.
“He has everything a top footballer needs and has a great future ahead of him.”
Bild had also previously claimed that Liverpool were looking to secure Sancho’s signature with what they described as a “mega salary”. But that doesn’t sound plausible or in any way consistent with the way Jürgen Klopp and FSG have done deals in the past.
