Liverpool Transfer News: Reds Eyeing Mamardashvili Replacement

Giorgi Mamardashvili was part of Liverpool’s expensive summer plans last summer, joining from Valencia in a £30m deal.

However, things haven’t quite gone to plan so far for the goalkeeper, who has yet to really impress between the sticks.

Interestingly, Nottingham Forest have identified Mamardashvili as a potential option late in the window.

But according to Sacha Tavolieri who broke this story first, Liverpool have already set their sights on his potential replacement.

Speaking on X, he said: “EXCL – Liverpool FC has targeted Lucca Brughmans to replace Giorgi Mamardashvili!”

“Also on FC Bayern Munich’s radar, the Reds are convinced by the future potential of the 2.00m-tall Belgian goalkeeper.”

And now, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Liverpool’s interest.

Again, speaking on X, he said: “Liverpool have made official club to club contact with Genk to sign Lucca Brughmans as new goalkeeper.”

“#LFC assessing whether to sign Brughmans for now if Mamardashvili goes to Nottingham Forest or eventually joining from 2027.”

“Deal on between clubs – follows @sachatavolieri.”

Liverpool are clearly preparing for the eventual replacement for the ageing Alisson Becker. And it seems that Mamardashvili hasn’t quite convinced them enough for such responsibility.

This deal could be one to watch in the final days of the window…
