Liverpool’s Dutch international midfielder Gini Wijnaldum believes that The Reds will be playing a very different United team than the Jose Mourinho-led side which lost 3-1 at Anfield in December.
Wijnaldum and his teammates played out a 0-0 draw with FC Bayern at Anfield on Tuesday night in the Champions League. This weekend sees a return to Premier League action for Jurgen Klopp’s men as they look to continue their brilliant challenge for the title in a race with Manchester City and Spurs.
On Sunday, Liverpool travel to Old Trafford to take on their biggest rivals and Wijnaldum believes The Reds will need to be on the top of their game against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team.
“I think it is going to be a real big change [from the game in December].
“Since the new manager came in there is a new flow, they played good games and have won a lot and that is building confidence in the team.
“It’s also a home game for them so they will have a lot of confidence as they don’t have the problems they had before.
“It is going to be a difficult game but I’m looking forward to it. I think for them we come at a good moment but we’re also doing well so it is going to be a nice game to watch.”
Wijnaldum once again impressed in midfield on Tuesday night alongside Jordan Henderson and Naby Keita. With Virgil van Dijk back in action on Sunday, Klopp now has some decisions to make regarding his midfield selection with Fabinho and James Milner also vying for starting places.
