Former Liverpool Star is Full of Praise for ‘Super Talented’ Forward

After a disastrous run of form in October and November, Liverpool have finally started to turn a corner. Impressive wins against Inter Milan and Brighton are the latest results of a five-game unbeaten run.

At the centre of the recent improved form has been Hugo Ekitike, who has scored four goals in his last two Premier League games.

His brace against Brighton puts him on ten goals across all competitions for the Reds and has rightly earned him plaudits.

Former Liverpool star Emile Heskey spoke exclusively to Anfield Index, courtesy of William Hill, and shared his thoughts on the Frenchan’s first few months on Merseyside.

‘Super Talented’ Ekitike Praised

The young forward was somewhat of a dark horse in Liverpool’s summer transfer business. A lot of the focus was put on the record-breaking arrivals of Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak, but it has been Ekitike who has adjusted quickest.

“Ekitike has really impressed me,” began Heskey, “He started so well and now has a few goals behind him, you can see why Liverpool spent so much money on him. He has bags of energy, pace and power, is direct and can score goals from anywhere.”

“He is super talented and can push on now with even more confidence. The team are getting to know him more and where he likes the ball, so this is great news for the club.”

“With other new signings up front, the all need to continue to get to know each other and expect this can be a much better 2nd half of the season,” finished Heskey.

Is he Undroppable?

I think it’s hard to argue against the idea that Ekitike is the first attacking name on Arne Slot’s teamsheet as we head into the festive period.

Mohamed Salah has now departed for the African Cup of Nations, whilst Cody Gakpo is sidelined until after Christmas through injury.

Alexander Isak, despite his £125m price tag, is still struggling for form and fitness and has just one goal and one assist to his name in the Premier League.

Saturday sees Liverpool face an away fixture at Tottenham Hotspur. On a huge pitch against a team that the Reds put 15 goals past last season, you’d fancy Ekitike to get some joy in this one.
