Scouser Tommies: CHAMPIONS!

Scouser Tommies: CHAMPIONS!

Jim Boardman and Jay Reid are back with the latest Scouser Tommies as they finally get to say the words they, and every Liverpool fan, have been waiting for: "We won the League!" To be fair, they’ve been saying it at every opportunity for a few days now. Still buzzing from that title-clinching victory at Anfield, Jay and Jim dive into the almost surreal feeling of Liverpool being back on that perch again. They discuss what this long-awaited triumph means, especially for the generation of fans witnessing it for the first time. They look back at the match itself – the electric atmosphere inside and outside the ground, the performance that blew the opposition away (despite that early wobble), and the sheer style with which Liverpool’s League title No.20 was secured. It was a day that no Red, whether there or watching from afar, will ever forget, featuring the kind of goals that were perfect for the occasion. Amidst the celebrations came all kinds of information, and maybe a bit of misinformation. Jim and Jay discuss some of the details shared about the tweaks Arne Slot implemented to bring the best out of the very good squad Jurgen Klopp passed onto him. They also weigh up how much can be read into the future of a certain out-of-contract player from his interactions after the game and certain cryptic social media hints. There is, of course, plenty of praise for Arne Slot for all he’s achieved in this incredible first season, and the players he’s done it with. They also recognize that while the celebrations will continue well into the new season, he’ll be working hard to maintain this success. As Jay points out, Slot has certainly got the attention of the powers-that-be when it comes to discussing what he’ll need to keep the squad ahead of the rest. There’s also discussion of some of the great content circulating about the Reds becoming champions again, as well as news of a new song for Arne Slot. Now’s as good a time as any for the boss to get a new ditty, especially after he kind of handed back the one Jurgen Klopp gave him 11 months ago. This new one even comes with actions, as Jay explains. Talking of songs, there’s a Scouser in this team who needs one. As always, there’s plenty to laugh about from across the park, but with them being so miraculously quiet, it was down to Harvey Elliott to help us out. There's loads more in the show, basically an hour celebrating a moment that was far too long in the making. The celebrations will indeed continue. Learn more about your ad choices. Klopp at Work: Realism, Hope and the Deconstruction of LFC

The great American poet, Eminem, once said in his sweeping, modernist, self-biopic poem song, “Lose Yourself”: “Snap back to reality, oh, there goes gravity,” And for many Liverpool fans, that’s where we find ourselves this week. After floating in the ethereal clouds of what-could-be, following epic wins versus Chelsea, Man City and Southampton, we're now plummeting...

Liverpool: All I Want For Christmas Is…

Had some feedback recently on AI that articles should be more positive, well after last weekend's exploits being positive is going to be very difficult, after what can only be described as a turgid, error ridden team performance by the team, where in my opinion nobody wearing red came out with any credit. Trying to...

Interview with Serbian Reporter Regarding Liverpool Bound Marko Grujic

With so many questions hanging over the potential Marko Grujic transfer from Red Star Belgrade to Liverpool FC I decided to interview Serbian sports writer Nemenja Grbic (@Nemcy85) to see if he could clear a few things up. This was conducted before Marko himself told the Serbian paper Telegraf he was joining Liverpool earlier...

Quick Fix Klopp

Almost eleven, long weeks have passed (depending on when you are reading this) since the German messiah took over the helm at Liverpool Football Club. The answer to all our problems, the quick fix for Brendan Rodgers' mess and the saviour of Anfield. It all began so well. Performances rose quite a few notches...

Liverpool’s Strongest Team

We all know what Liverpool's strongest team is, well we all like to think we know what Liverpool's strongest team is anyways. If you go through the full squad, including those who are out on loan and those who are currently injured Liverpool have the potential to have one of the strongest starting elevens...

Liverpool FC Team Leaks and Attention Seekers

Football Twitter is like the animal kingdom. It's competitive as many accounts scrap for that top position as most reliable associated with the club they support. There are accounts that offer fan opinions, some that provide news and then there are those that are lucky enough to hear about club news before most and...

A New Goalkeeper or Bust for Liverpool?

First choice Liverpool 'keeper misses a game and his understudy fails to perform in his absence. Strong sense of Deja vu here isn't there? December 2014, Brendan Rodgers "indefinitely" drops Simon Mignolet after a string of errors and is replaced by Brad Jones. The Australian comes into the side and aids United as they defeat...

Guard Your Precious Klopp-omania, It’s Worth It

As soon as the third goal went in, I changed channels and since then have not had anything to do with football. Twitter had already been logged off by then; notifications on WhoScored, LiveScore, Fourfourtwo all turned off. I was not having anything to do with football till Saturday. These were not expressions of...

Liverpool Atmosphere: The Force Awakens

Many years ago, In a galaxy far, far away there was a prophecy spoken about a normal one. The prophecy of the normal one was that foretold the coming of a being who would bring balance to the Liverpool fans. Jurgen was the normal one. Anfield was at it's lowest ebb for many years and the force...

Time to go two up-top for Liverpool?

The blueprint for Brendan Rodgers' successful Liverpool side in 2013/14 is being used by a few teams that are surprising the Premier League this season. Two mobile strikers who combine pace and power. It's not a revelation of course, the two man strike force is something we're accustomed to seeing in the Premier League. However...

Return of the Jedi: Ian Rush

"A Jedi Knight? Jeez, I'm out of it for a little while, everyone gets delusions of grandeur!" Deal with it Han Solo, he’s definitely a Jedi! A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, Everton thought they were striking back. They almost did. They had the 1984/85 season where they amassed 90 points and...

The Liverpool Fanbase Strikes Back

When re-watching The Empire Strikes Back recently in preparation for the AI Movie Night Podcast Star Wars episodes, I was struck by how similar some of the messages in the film are to the messages given to Liverpool players and the fans by Klopp. Warning: Spoilers for the original Star Wars Trilogy to follow My favourite...

Time For Reflection – Liverpool’s Squad Options

Wow, just wow. In the last three league games Liverpool have been taken apart by Newcastle United, West Bromwich Albion and most recently Watford. If you looked at those fixtures at the start of the season the only game you as a fan would have been sonewhat worried about is Newcastle away. As poor...

Watford 3 Liverpool FC 0: Player Ratings

After such a terrible performance I'm not so sure any ratings would suffice however the show must go on as must this article! It would not be a travesty if this article was filled with the word "horrible" for the majority of those playing for Liverpool FC today. So with that said let's get...

John Henry – Resurrecting the Rebel Alliances

The closing minutes of Liverpool's last game with West Brom Albion last weekend bore witness to an already emerging bond. It was as apparent as the shape of an X-Wing in Empire Strikes Back, there was an intensity from the Anfield crowd that further soldered this bond with their new Commander in charge, as...

A New Hope: Liverpool’s Resurgence

“This time we’ll be destroyed for sure. This is madness.” – C3PO. A long time ago, in the annals of English football, there was a club... But this was no ordinary club. 18 League Titles, 5 European Cups and dozens of alternative trophies had launched Liverpool into the status of Global Superpower. Having fought against common enemies...

The Revenge of the Sith: Torres, 22:59

22.59, 31st January 2011 Deep the flames of anger and resentment burn. Mustafar cannot ever depict the red hot incendiaries in the head of the one who turned or what they can ignite by the ones you’ve scorned. The love and affection presented to you was akin to the apprentice of Obi Wan Kenobi. Our...

Attack of the Clones – Sturridge: The False Prophecy

"Who did this to you!? Who was it Owen?" Obi-Wan was desperate to know who was responsible for this heinous crime. His old friend, Owen Coyle, never hurt anyone, who on earth would want to kill him? "I-I don’t know. I only saw a pink light" replied Coyle, barely able to get the words out....

Liverpool’s Greatest Ever Manager

Quick question Reds, Who is Liverpool's greatest ever manager? I bet your answer depends on what age you are. If you're in your twentys or thirties you might say Gérard Houiller or Rafa Benitez or even Jürgen Klopp. If you're in you're forties or older you have a golden generation of managers to choose...

The Phantom Menace: Darth Brendan

The Transfer Federation’s blockade held firm. The young Mackem would not be disposed of for a fraction of his value, especially not to facilitate a deal for an aging relic with fading powers. It didn’t matter what the Three Envelopes of Brendan foretold, Hendo was staying. Darth Brendan liked to think of himself – and...

Liverpool FC: The Force Must Be Strong

When the late, great Bill Shankly first rocked up to Anfield in October 1959, it could be argued that the ground resembled Dagobah. The iconic Scotsman immediately set about transforming the club and captured the imagination of everyone involved. His charismatic persona inspired and transcended beyond those on the pitch and into the stands...

A Budding Relationship – Coutinho, Firmino, and Chances Created

I think it’s fair to say that when Phillipe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino are on the pitch together, Liverpool have been at their most electric.  Chances upon chances, bodies getting into good positions within the 18-yard box, and fluidity up front that fans haven’t seen for two years.  This is, indeed, all well and...

The Marko Grujic Link – A Different Liverpool in the Transfer Market?

The Liverpool front of house has had a drastic change since the appointment of Jurgen Klopp but is the most effective change the one behind the scenes ? On the pitch we have our eccentric German doing his upmost to rid Anfield of the toxic atmosphere that has plagued the club for the past 18...

Merry Klopp-mas and a Quiet New Year?

The countdown is on and the big day is nearly upon us. Excited boys and girls are writing their lists, checking them twice (at least!) and hoping that when the time comes, they’ll be screeching with excitement over the presents that they have been dreaming about for months, delivered by the jolly red man...

Three Liverpool Problems Even Jurgen Klopp Cannot Fix

For many Liverpool supporters the arrival of Jurgen Klopp was a godsend. The charismatic and passionate German has been a breath of fresh air on Merseyside and in English football.  He has rejuvenated Liverpool and masterminded incredible away wins at Chelsea and Manchester City. He even made Dejan Lovren look not-so-terrible. But as much as we...

Feed the Scousers

Feed the Scousers, let them know it’s Christmas time. How we laugh eh? I was at St James' Park last week for that inexplicably insipid performance from what had, up until that point, been an impressive looking all-red bandwagon we had going on there. (Chill out everyone, it will kick in again any match-day now.) When Newcastle...

The Coutinho Conundrum

In recent weeks, Liverpool have put on three stellar displays: dismembering Chelsea, Manchester City and Southampton all away from home, and yet there have also been some dire, and rather boring affairs - the Newcastle and Sion matches, and to an extent the Swansea match were all too familiar and brought back bad memories...

The lowdown on Liverpool Target Marko Grujic

Rumours surfaced early last week that Liverpool were in talks with Red Star Belgrade over the signing of their talented midfielder Marko Grujic. I'm going to go out on a limb here and saying not many people watch the Serbian League so to most this player is a bit of an unknown. There's something...

Jürgen Klopp’s Defensive Dilemma

What a difference a weekend makes. I was all set to have a piece done on why I thought Mamadou Sakho should he the man to partner Dejan Lovren in the heart of the Liverpool defence this weekend against Watford, only for Craig Gardener to recklessly injure him. Now Liverpool fans are stuck with...

Liverpool 2 WBA 2 – What Went Wrong Tactically

I recently wrote a piece inspired by the positivity of the 6-1 victory over Southampton in the Capital One Cup. In that match there was a real feeling that Jurgen Klopp was starting to introduce his tactical concepts to the squad and that we would see the team go from strength to strength. Since...
